"Core Classes"
Ah... finally came out of my room after being locked up in here over summer. (Not counting using the treadmill downstairs) True, this blog may be 3-4 weeks late, but it just proves the semi-awesomeness of my sophomore experience. The amount and level of work this year is so much different from the loads we got over freshman year. Intermediate Physics is like a different world to me since we're using a college textbook now and all these formulas aren't getting into my head. Today's homework quiz wasn't that bad, but it was so easy that it makes me scared. Its either I'm getting it now but I haven't realized it or I totally failed. Anyway, moving on, Intermediate Chemistry is wonderful since I still have Mrs. Sorrentino from freshman year and so far I haven't got a problem wrong ^^. Take that gas laws. We're moving ahead in front of other classes too so I'm quite content with my status. Next up, World History. I LOVE my new teacher this year. He acts just like my private school teacher back in DLSZ and when I have teachers like this, I really do pay more attention in class. Last discussion was on Prehistory stuff, the Dark Ages and the Roman Empire. I read that huge packet the night before and I finished at 5:38 a.m., but thanks to that, I did pretty well during discussion. American Literature II is great thanks to the teacher too. Not much going on there right now, but I can't wait to get into a literary arts "in the zone" mode and probably have enough inspiration to fill my sketchpad. French III is a bit of hassle, but she's my IGS advisor too, which helps with student-teacher relations of course :3. I have a test tomorrow so I'll need to study. Verbs are pretty much the structure of French , so if I do good on this test, my life should be easier French-wise. Introduction to Engineering Design II is a pain right now since I still have a drawing due for that class and its late =_=. Plus, I owe my other teacher an idea for an invention that we will actually create in class over the year. I swear, I've heard the phrase, "a stapler and a hole puncher combined" over ten times last Friday. It just proves that there's little left to invent in this world. I have an edge this year in Drivers Ed since I'm already 16 and I have some driving experience, but to be honest, I'm not really concerned with driving at the moment. Walking to school is just fine <3. Oh yeah, BIOLOGY. Biology is just great. I actually know a lot when it comes to biology so I'm all set for now. I even have a field trip this Thursday ^^. Actually, I love bio that much that I stayed after class during my frees to water the plants and stuff. I'm not sucking up to the teacher, I'm just finding working or caring for living things quite relaxing. I think I'm making the Environmental Science Center my new little peace of heaven this year. Its just so relaxing to the senses... maybe its the oxygen. Maybe its the random knickknacks you can play with in there. Maybe its just something new I've come to enjoy a lot. Finally, there's Analysis II (Pre-Calculus). I'm sort of okay in class, I got a 83 on our first test since I fail at graphs. Dr. Penev even showed me that if I got those right, I would have got a perfect score! *sigh* I really need to improve with math this year. It ties in with all my core classes since I am in science major...
Moving on! "Extra Curriculars"
Lets see, electives signed up for: Sequential Art and Digital/Creative Imaging. Club this year: Earth Knights.
Starting off with the Earth Knights club. Ms. Pero welcomed me with open arms since she taught our Freshman Leadership class last year. I'd actually consider her closer to me than a few of my core class teachers so its pretty unusual, but hey, I think its great to develop bonds with people outside your field. It gives you experience :3 First club meeting was most enjoyable. Irene's my fellow club member so I'm happy to have someone I know around. Oh yeah, when we had our Friday morning meeting, I was selected as the club artist this year. I know I haven't posted anything on my deviantart or bothered to show off my work, but now I have chance for outside criticism and publicity. Not exactly something I want to do, but its time to try new things right? We're working in the garden this Wednesday... good thing I have a half green thumb. Also entered Sequential Art and Digital/Creative Imaging. Am I really a science student?
I'll continue next time...
